L’Or du Golfe is a serious game that has users delve into the issues surrounding the exploration and exploitation of oil in Quebec, more particularly in the Gulf of St. Lawrence. Players are invited to take the helm of Énergie Québec, a fictitious company that handles the province’s energy concerns. The objective is to reduce dependence on imported oil by 2040. To accomplish this, the players must manage all the phases of exploitation, from exploration to site closures. They will discover that the issues and risks are extensive: finding the equilibrium between economic gain and environmental security is difficult. Will they succeed in finding energy independence for Quebec?
